Author Finds 'Forty Beads' Saved Her Sexless Marriage

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — If you have lost that loving feeling in your relationship, you might want to get some beads . . . 40 of them to be exact.

"I like sex . . . but on any given night I would prefer, you know, a Dove bar," said Carol Evans said sex used to be the last thing on her mind.

The wife and mother isn't alone. According to a recently released study conducted by the Barna Group, one in three married American couples has sex less than once a month.

Evans, desperate in a "sexless" 15-year marriage, decided to have intercourse with her husband for 40 days straight.

"I immediately regretted it, realizing that I could never survive that much sex," said Evans.

Instead, she gave her husband 40 beads. Each time he dropped a bead into her bedside bowl, she knew he wanted to have sex.

"It changed everything, everything about our marriage," she said. "They love it. And when they get this promise of all this sex in the future, it just shifts everything. It's like shifting tectonic plates in the marriage."

Evans was so surprised by the new life in her marriage that she wrote the book, "Forty Beads."

"The Forty Beads method is about making a choice. What is it that you want? Do you want a loving, connected relationship? Well, a healthy sex life is a big part of that," Evans declared.

Evans has been using the Forty Beads method for over two years and says her libido has grown and changed her outlook on intimacy.

"Take it one bead at a time . . . and if you do, it might just change the way you feel about sex like it did for me."
