Security Increased Following Shooting In Marina Del Rey Parking Garage

MARINA DEL REY (KNX1070) — Security at The Bay Club apartments in Marina del Rey has been increased following a robbery and shooting on Thursday.

KNX 1070’s Ed Mertz Reports

The incident, which occurred around 10 p.m., took place in the 1400 block of Tahiti Way.

According to investigators, that’s where a man approached a 44-year-old woman, demanding her purse. After she handed it over and tried to run away, the woman was shot in the back.

“She was laying there and she said ‘call the paramedics… I’ve been shot, help, call the paramedics,’” one witness said.

Sheriff’s deputies say the suspect took off in a white Mercedes.

The woman is expected to make a full recover from her wound.

Meantime, residents at the upscale apartment complex say they cannot believe something like this happened.

“I’ve lived here since December. I mean, I’ve picked this place because it’s so residential,” a resident said.

PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY CALIFORNIA NEEDS SHALL-ISSUE CCW.

THIS ROBBER WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT DEAL LESS BOLD, AND LESS LIKELY TO TRY A ROBBERY LIKE THIS AT ALL, IF HE FELT THERE WAS OPPOSITION IN THE WORLD.

FURTHERMORE, IF THIS WOMAN WERE EQUALLY OR POSSIBLY BETTER ARMED, THE OUTCOME HAD A GREAT ABILITY TO BE DIFFERENT. THOSE WHO CARRY OFTEN CARRY LARGER CALIBERS AND BETTER GUNS THAT CRIMINALS, AND TRAIN WITH THEIR FIREARMS TO A TRUE PROFICIENCY, WHERE CRIMINALS DON’T – SHE WOULD HAVE HAD THE UPPER-HAND THROUGH BETTER TOOLS, MORE EXPERIENCE, AND BETTER MENTAL AND TACTFUL TRAINING.

THE CRIMINALS HAVE FREE REIGN AND THE UPPER-HAND; THIS EXAMPLE PROVES IT.
