LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An infant was pronounced dead early Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle at Downtown L.A.’s Art Walk Thursday night.
The accident happened at about 9:20 p.m. near 4th and Spring Street.
One car hit another sending one of the cars up on the curb, knocking out a parking meter and striking a woman pushing a baby stroller with a 2-month-old boy inside, according to investigators.
The boy was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m. Friday.
“The child was being [kept] on life support to allow the family time to grieve and say goodbyes,” said Sgt. Michael Marcey of the Central Traffic Division.
The mother was transported to a hospital, but was not seriously injured, authorities said.
Both drivers remained at the scene following the crash and police said they did not believe that alcohol played a role in the crash.
