PHOENIX (CBS/AP) – For six young baseball fans, Tuesday’s All-Star game will be particularly thrilling.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation has sponsored a trip for them and their families to enjoy the festivities surrounding the game.
Among the young people who had a wish granted is Erick Cruz, a talented ball player from Claremont, who has been fighting leukemia for the last few years but is now in remission. He says he’s starting to work out again and trying to get in shape.
Cruz was once teammates with Bryce Harper, the top-prospect in baseball.
Harper told Yahoo! Sports, ” He would’ve played college ball and gone on to the big leagues…. Erick is stronger than anybody I’ve ever seen in my life. Just being able to get through everything — it’s amazing. He’s loving being here ”
