Investigators Probe Laguna Niguel Bank Robbery For Ties To Drifter Bandit

LAGUNA NIGUEL (CBS) — Investigators are swarming at a Citibank branch in Laguna Niguel Wednesday after a bank robber hit the business Wednesday afternoon.

The robbery took place just after 4:35 p.m., said officials.

The branch is located at Golden Lantern and Marina Hills Drive, said Lt. Stu Greenberg.

Stacey Butler, reporting for KCAL 9 News, spoke to officials who believe the robbery might have been the work of a serial bandit.

Authorities told Butler the alleged "Drifter Bandit" was also believed to have struck a San Juan Capistrano bank on Tuesday.

The bandit has been described as white, slender, in his mid to late 30s, 6 feet, 2 inches tall and about 190 pounds. His hair color has varied slightly and it's believed he might be wearing a wig or hair piece.

No injuries were reported in the Wednesday heist.
