SOUTH GATE (CBS) — South Gate police shot and killed a man outside a motel early Monday.
Police were called to the parking lot of the Gateway Inn on 8911 Atlantic Ave. just after 3 a.m., South Gate police Lt. Darren Arakawa said.
The victim was identified as 23-year-old Martin Tadeo Osuna-Aguilar, of Lynwood, Lt. Joe Bale of the coroner’s office said.
The motel’s receptionist, Jack Lin, said that he heard more than one shot fired as he was sitting behind his desk at the 50-room motel.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said it was helping South Gate police investigate the shooting.
Authorities have not indicated what prompted the incident.
