LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The Golden State (5) Freeway was closed briefly in both directions Tuesday while police searched for a man with a toy gun and a blade in Mission Hills.
A man with a gun was reported in the 11500 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, near the freeway, about 10:40 a.m. Investigating officers sealed off the area and the California Highway Patrol stopped freeway traffic in both directions, Los Angeles police Officer Rosario Herrera said.
An arrest was made shortly afterward after the suspect was found with a plastic gun and blade near the freeway.
The CHP started reopening lanes about 11:45 a.m.
