Must See: Tim Burton's Twisted Funhouse at LACMA

If you love Tim Burton's films (like moi) you must see this exhibit. Large Marge's eyeballs in various sizes are on display from Pee Wee's Big Adventure! There's an Oogie Boogie room straight out of The Nightmare Before Christmas! Edward Scissorhands' costume and scissored gloves are here! Sandworms from Beetle Juice too! And that's just the beginning.

I was instantly reminded of ramshackle weekend carnivals of my youth as the monster ate each visitor upon entry. I've always been a sucker for a funhouse.

I'm serenely aware of the teeth looming behind me. Fear is not a factor for this girl.

Here's a peek from the entry. This is one of the half-dozen rooms featured in this playful exhibit. This photo does not do this exquisite show justice.

The Tim Burton exhibit at LACMA follows his life growing up in Burbank, with letters and awards that highlight his talents from an early age… through the many creative and often  awkward stages of his life to where he's at today.

"Tim Burton" will be on view through October 31st. LACMA is closed on Wednesdays.
Tickets are $20. I hear it's really packed on the weekends.

You can buy your tickets in advance here: www.lacma.org
