Glam Staycation: 7 Easy Steps

I'm all about a staycation. Changing things up, where it feels like I'm getting away, but I get the comfort of staying home.

Here are the seven steps for a fun weekend that will put a spring in your step, or if you're in a relationship... some spice in your life!

Step One: La Rosette Cocktail

(St. Germain & Champagne)
½ shot St. Germain
Top with Brut Champagne, Dry Sparkling Wine or Brut Rosé

Pour ingredients into a chilled fluted glass and stir lightly. Float half a strawberry as a garnish, lemon twist or raspberries.

Step 2: Decadent Dinner

The LA Woman ladies are girly girls but also straight up carnivores. We feasted on the Natural Beef Filet Mignon served with mashed potatoes, Madeira and fried artichoke.

Step 3: Dance!

Not only did we burn off calories, more rounds of champagne were sent to our table by admirers of our sick dance moves.

Here's our playlist:

  1. Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall by Coldplay
  2. Get Outta My Way by Kylie Minogue
  3. Kick, Push N' Stuff (Deadmau5 vs Lupe Fiasco) by Touch Face
  4. Rabiosa by Shakira Ft. Pitbull
  5. Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win by Beastie Boys Ft. Santigold
  6. On The Floor by Jennifer Lopez
  7. Blow by Kesha
  8. Bounce by Calvin Harris
  9. Get Down Tonight by KC and The Sunshine Band

Step 4: Ice Bath

After dancing for hours in five inch heels, there is nothing like a simple ice bath to rest those gorgeous feet! Elite athletes believe the muscle micro-tears that result from a hard workout stimulate new muscle growth. Cold causes blood vessels to constrict reducing pain and swelling. Do not go below 41 degrees! Ice, water and soak. Just cool off those tootsies.

Step Five: Smoothies

These are Beverly Wilshire's smoothie recipes. They're tasty and light. I'm conscious of what I eat or drink when I'm in a bikini, so rest assured, these drinks won't make you feel heavy, just refreshed!

  • 3 carrots

Immunity

Step 6: Catch Some Rays

You already know the rules about sunscreen and hats. We're not going to bore you with those details. Here's our poolside playlist:

  1. God Only Knows by Dale Earnhart Jr. Jr.
  2. Elephants by Warpaint
  3. Sympathique by Pink Martini

  10. Gila by Beach House

Step 7:  At Home Spa Treatments

Start off with the Watermelon Mask & relax in the Rosewater Bath. Both also help soothe sunburns.

Watermelon is the perfect summertime snack, but it makes a great natural mask. It's packed with antioxidants like lycopene and vitamins A and C.

Watermelon Cleansing Mask
from Beautylish

  • 2 cups of seedless watermelon (or just remove the seeds)
  • Clean bowl

Mash the flesh of the watermelon in a bowl, lie down, apply the pulp to clean skin and let it sit for 10 minutes. Rub the pulp in circular motions to gently cleanse your skin thoroughly. Watermelon's natural fruit acids will also help exfoliate. Rinse the mask off with cool water and follow up with your normal skincare routine.

Rosewater Bath

  • 1/2 cup rosewater or 1 cup rose petals
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk

Draw a bath. Add your petals or rosewater and then the coconut milk. Relax and enjoy your homemade rose bath!
