Americans Being Targeted? 3 Killed In Baja Calif. Since April

SAN DIEGO (CBS) — Officials said on Friday that U.S. citizens are not being targeted in Baja California despite the murders of three Americans in the past month.

KNX 1070’s Tom Reopelle reports a San Diego security guard was the first victim in a spree that continues to wreak havoc along the U.S. – Mexico border.

26-year-old Antonio Acevedo was gunned down in front of his 2 children in Rosarito on April 30. The kids were not harmed.

Two other American men were recently murdered a few hundred yards from the border in Tijuana — one in front of the Hotel Pueblo Amigo on May 3, the other in the parking lot of the Bar Dubai nightclub on May 22.

Tijuana human rights activist Victor Clark Alfarro has his office located in the same area, and insists the violence is not an everyday occurrence.

“I don’t have any doubt that those are isolated cases,” Alfarro said.

In April, two other Americans were shot to death as they sat in their truck waiting to enter the U.S.

Investigators insist Americans are not being targeted.
