LA County Supervisor Vows To 'Find' Money To Clean Beach Restrooms
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — At least one official is pledging to clean up the restrooms along beaches in Los Angeles County after a rise in complaints that budget cuts have left the restrooms unsanitary.
KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports L.A. County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky has asked the Department of Beaches and Harbors to find other ways to save money after receiving a large number of complaints about dirty bathrooms at public beaches.

Yaroslavsky says public restrooms at county beaches pose a health issue now that cleaning has been scaled back due to budget cuts, just as the number of beachgoers increases at the start of summer.
About 30 janitorial positions were cut when funding for a federal welfare-to-work jobs program was eliminated.
Despite the fiscal challenges, Yaroslavsky is standing behind his promise to come up with the funds.
"With a $23 billion budget, we can find $300,000 to clean," Yaroslavsky said.
