Man Critically Wounded, 2-Year-Old Nephew Killed In Newton Shooting

NEWTON (CBS) —  A man in his 30s was critically injured and his 2-year-old nephew killed Monday night, the apparent unintended victims of  a shooter as they sat on the porch of a home in South Los Angeles.

The shooting occurred in the 1200 block of East 55th Street, one block east of Central Avenue, about 8:30 p.m., said Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

The two were taken to hospitals in separate ambulances, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The uncle and nephew were “unintended victims,” and there was no suspect information, Rayner said.

The boy was declared dead at the hospital.

another baby angel falls victim to gun violence… for all you pro gun idiots talking about how awesome it is to be able to have the right to own a gun.. may you receive an internet punch in the nuts.

    • Steve

Shut up, moron. Gun control will do nothing but not allow the honest hard working people to own them and protect themselves. You really think that gun control will stop criminals from getting them? Millions of guns are already out there, it’s too late to stop them from getting into the hands of criminals. All gun control will do is not allow law abiding folks to protect themselves.

Who are the “idiots”, the ones who want to protect themselves and their loved ones. Or the ones who believe in some fantasy that gun control will suddenly make weapons unaccessible to criminals? Do you know the average response time for LAPD to show up to your door? It’s 7 minutes. The bad guys can do a lot to you and your loved ones in 7 minutes. I take comfort in knowing that I can protect myself and family on my own.

Rest in peace to the innocent child who was shot. That’s an immeasurable tragedy. I pray for the family of the little boy. How terribly sad.

Yes a baby was killed to gun violence. But you guys shouldn’t say anything if you weren’t witness of what happened. Have respect for the family!!!

  • Mike Smith

Ok, now let’s wait and see if Charlie Beck assigns 20 of his best detectives to this case. RIP little one…

Think this is bad? Wait till the new budget goes into affect. The city council thinks taking money from the police and fire is a good idea. The violence will get worse the response time will get bigger. The police will not do anything and i don’t blame them. That job is to dangerous to do for less money
