Body Of 20-Something Woman Found At Trash-Sorting Plant In Wilmington

WILMINGTON (CBS) — Workers at a local trash-sorting facility found the body of a 20-something woman just after 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is on scene investigating. LAPD Harbor Area homicide detectives are also assisting.

They say the woman is black and was found among recyclables being sorted.

The facility is located in the 900 block of East E Street.

Officials say the trash sorting facility receives deliveries from all over Southern California from as far south as San Juan Capistrano to areas north of Los Angeles.

Detectives have not yet announced a cause of death.

The body has been taken to the LA County Coroner's Office for a full forensic work-up.
