Suspect Killed In Pico-Union OIS, Stabbing Victim Also Dead

PICO-UNION (CBS) — Police responding to a call about a possible stabbing victim shot and killed a suspect who was holding a knife after he reportedly charged at officers.

LAPD Olympic Division officers responded to the assault with a deadly weapon (ADW) call just after 1:30, sources tell KCAL9 News.

One victim was discovered with fatal stab wounds in the front yard of the property located in the 1500 block of Arapahoe Street.

The stabbing victim has reportedly been identified as the suspect’s mother. An older woman, believed to be the dead woman’s mother, was also stabbed. The alleged suspect’s grandmother was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.

Police said they were clearing the front of the house when the suspect came from the rear of the property holding a knife.

The suspect was asked to drop the knife but police said, instead, the unidentified male charged at them.

The suspect was shot and declared dead at the scene, according to authorities.

It was not immediately clear how many times the suspect was shot.

Good!! Another idiot of the streets.

  • Marcus

    The alleged suspect – that’s a little overly-qualified.

Now…..we shall wait for people to start asking, “why didn’t they shoot him in the leg or shoot the knife from his hand?” This will be followed by a demo, people acting stupid, burning city streets n causing havoc! I commend the officers involved, whom definitely saved other lives from this maniac running arround with a knife.

He may have had to much of LA’S ( RADIATION ) poison to really care .

    • James

Nah — This guy killed his mother, apparently, so I doubt anyone will care that he was shot.

Please folks, be respectful…there is nothing that will ever explain what my cousin did. We are all in shock and pain but he was not a monster. He worked a regular job and helped take care of his grandmother who he adored. We have no idea why he did what he did and we will be left asking why. Our family works hard and lives their lives peacefully. We never once thought this could happen to us…but it has and until you are in our shoes please remember that we have lost not only our aunt but also our cousin. His brothers are suffering a loss not many can comprehend so please just be respectful with your comments. Thank you

Allie, sorry for your loss. This is one of those siuations that involves pain for family, friends and the law enforcement officers. The folks looking in from the outside, who have never been involved in such things have no isdea what this is like. As a cop who has, please know there are plenty of us who know and have been there.

I have worked with him for a few years. He was a down to earth kind of guy. He was great to talk to and joke around with. He was a really nice guy. I’m still shocked about it and I still think about it. My prayers will be going to his family and friends as well as him. He was a good guy. I didn’t know something like this can happen.
