Food Trucks & Furious Music

I always love how these words dance down the sides of photos on my posts. Be patient as we get to the point.

What are you doing tonight? I'm inviting you to watch one of my favorite new singers perform at the Food Truck Derby (3pm - 7pm).

Hanni El Khatib takes the stage at 4:15pm.

Free food, music and drinks.  Click here to RSVP.

El Khatib's debut album Will the Guns Come Out releases later this year.  He sounds a little like The Black Keys, a little rockabilly and classic rock and roll like Jerry Lee Lewis. Have a listen here.

Earlier this year, he opened for Florence + The Machine on a leg of their tour, where he developed a fast friendship with Florence. He'll be playing with her June 13th at the Greek Theatre.

Hanni grew up in San Fransisco, the son of Palestinian and Filipino immigrants. As a child, he was obsessed with classic Americana and pop culture of the 1950s and 60s. He lists Sam Cooke, The Sonics, Johnny Bennett, The Cramps, and Iggy Pop as inspirations. With rock heroes like those, it's understandable he draws comparisons to The Black Keys and The White Stripes.

On stage, it's often just Hanni and his guitar, with his best friend from high school on drums.

Follow Hanni on Twitter and visit his website for more tour dates and info.
