LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Think of it as your recession-proof ticket to Tinseltown.
For the entire month of May, all Southern California residents can take part in a new promotional campaign aimed at drawing more families to the most famous boulevard in the world.
City Councilman Tom LaBonge told KNX 1070 the “Half Off Hollywood” discounts are open to residents from all over the Southland.
Residents from Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties will receive 50 percent off admission to all the Hollywood Boulevard attractions and tours, including the Guinness World Records Museum, the Hollywood Wax Museum, the L.A. City and Starline Tours, Madame Tussaud’s Hollywood, and Ripley’s Believe it Or Not.
While there’s ample parking at the Hollywood and Highland complex, LaBonge suggested it might be easier to take public transportation, no matter where you may be coming from.
“They could jump on Metrolink, they come into Union Station, they could take the Red Line to Vine Street, and they could walk and look at the stars in front of the Pantages Theater, walk down the boulevard, and then go into one of the museums,” Labonge said.
In order to qualify for the discounts, guests will be required to show verification of residency.
And if you’re having trouble determining whether you are in fact a Southlander, the “Half Off Hollywood” website has made the process even easier.
