Body Found On Temecula Street Identified As Missing Woman

WINCHESTER (CBS) —  A body found on the shoulder of a roadway south of Winchester was identified Monday as that of a missing 36-year-old French Valley woman.

Officials said the circumstances of her death remain unclear.

The remains of Stacy Lee Ortiz were discovered Thursday afternoon near Winchester Road and Washington Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Ortiz had been reported missing last week by friends and family, Sgt. Herman Lopez said.

Coroner's officials used photographs and fingerprints to make a positive ID, he said.

"The investigation into her death continues, and investigators will continue to follow up on several calls received from the public," the sergeant said.
