LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Hundreds of Armenian Americans and their supporters spent Easter Sunday protesting outside the Turkish consulate, pushing for the Turkish government to recognize the Armenian genocide of 1915 and for President Obama to weigh in on the issue.

The Armenian Youth Federation organized Sunday’s protest that had members chanting in unison, many carrying signs as well as Armenian and American flags.

The group is seeking justice for their countrymen massacred by the Turks nearly a century ago.

The Turkish government continues to refuse to recognize the massacre and has reportedly tried to influence other world powers to do the same.

The only fools are those who are failing to recognize the Genocide. It’s easy to say that it was forever ago and to move on, but when you hear the horrific stories from our grandparents and how they lost their loved ones, brother, sistes, families, friends in the most inhumane ways, you can’t help it but be bitter and demand recognition. Do you know that Turks threw newborns, infants and toddlers into the river to drown? Not to mention they would line up youth and massacre them into the river covered in blood? But you know what, Armenians are still here and they will continue to fight for justice. Turks need to step up and admit to the Genocide. It politics, however, that keep it from happening.

In regards to the comment made by HooDatlS- Maybe we can move on if what happened was acknowledged. I am sorry for saying this but thats like telling African Americans to get over slavery or jewish people to get over the holocaust. People need to think and be educated before they make such stupid statements.
