WESTLAKE VILLAGE (CBS) — Meet Nate. He’s a Chihuahua mix that walks with the help of this cart after he was abused and his spine was broken.

Dr. Daniel Slaton, a veterinarian based in Westlake Village, helps heal injured animals like Nate free of charge so they can be adopted to a loving home.

Slaton feels that by giving away free exams and discounted medical procedures, he is encouraging people to rescue pets and save them being euthanized.

Kelli Hopper, who founded SAFE animal rescue, works on finding pets homes after they’ve been treated by Dr. Slaton.

Slaton donates approximately $30,000 in free vet care every month at Westlake Village Animal Hospital.

God Bless him for his services. Those animal abusers need to go to jail for a very long time. They need to face a harsh sentence for their crimes against these innocent beings.

Alexandra…I do agree with you, however reality sets in…..most never get caught and punished for these crimes. At least, they don’t pay for their crimes here on earth, but it costs um after they leave this good old earth. There is more to our universe than most can emagine, and they will be quite surprized to learn that they have not “escaped” from their rightful punishment. God have mercy on their souls.
