LA HABRA (CBS/AP) — Police say four people were killed and two injured when a pick-up truck that may have been speeding through a residential neighborhood in La Habra went out of control and crashed into a tree.

La Habra police Sgt. Jeff Baylos says the fatal accident happened shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday.

Four were pronounced dead at the scene: David Huizar, Jr., 22, of La Habra; Jimmy Alonzo Gonzales, 22, of Buena Park; Paul Romero, 25, of Fullerton; and Delora Bravo, 22, of La Habra.

Two La Habra residents, 25-year-old Destiney Mendoza and 21-year-old Rochelle Romero, were hospitalized in critical condition.

All six passengers were originally trapped inside the black Chevy Colorado and emergency rescue crews extracted the two survivors using the “jaws of life”.

Police are investigating whether alcohol was involved and say that they suspect the vehicle was going faster than the posted speed limit — 25 miles per hour.

  4. bee says:

anyone knw the names of the victims?

  5. Art says:

People drive like this all the time and sometimes it will result in death and injury

  6. Agustin Ruiz says:

Family and friends of the victims involved have seen comments on the story, before you post, keep that in mind and also that they are going through a terrible situation and seeing tasteless and innapropriate comments about their family member is that much more hurtful. Alcohol involvement has not even been confirmed yet and if it does indeed turn out it was involved we all know that drinking and driving is a terrible thing, but there is absolutely no need to leave the hurtful comments about the victims. If you really have nothing encouraging to say to the families and friends of the victimes, it is best that you say nothing at all.

  7. Karine says:

Why are you such an awful person? Where your parents awful too!! If you have nothing nice to say dont say anything at all. Low life.

  10. Isabel O. says:

Before leaving an in humane comment please think that the victim’s actions are causing thier family members to suffer who is not thier fault.. I knew David Huizar and Rochelle Romero (Romero was declared dead this afternoon) they have a 3 yr old daughter (who is turing 4 in a couple of weeks & they were going to throw her a birthday party) and a 2 yr baby boy. Now those little innocent angels have lost BOTH thier parents and i know David’s side of the family. So please think before you leave a nasty comment because you’ll never who are the people you’ll truely affend, Please at least have some respect.

  13. Leslie says:

Such a tragedy for all the families invlolved. I’m sorry and I will pray you find peace in the happier memories they all leave behind. Only God knows when it’s our time to go, he must have had an opening for four new Angels. Find comfort in that thought and know that in time you will smile once again. Friends on Earth, Angels in Heaven. The two who survived will need all the support to move on with their lives. Injuries may heal on the outside, but it’s the injury and the pain on the inside that will take longer to heal. God Bless all involved.

  14. moe says:

its so sad . i cried for the kids and their families. what a devastating accident and what an ordeal for the families of the kids who passed away. i wish them strength and am hoping for the best for the two girls who survived. i wonder if the girl who survived is the younger sister of one of the boys who died. what a terrible terrible tragedy.
