CHINO (CBS) — Residents in Chino are coming together to raise money for a 6-year-old boy who’s battling brain cancer.

Jose Verduzco was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in February and has endured four major brain surgeries over the past couple of months.

Jose’s situation would be arduous for any adult to handle, which is what makes this 6-year-old’s positive attitude all the more inspiring.

Members of the Chino community have been touched by Jose’s story and the tireless efforts of his family to get him treatment.

A fundraiser will be held to aid the Verduzco’s medical expenses Tuesday, 4-9 p.m., at Carl’s Jr. restaurant, 12005 Central Ave., Chino.

You can help Jose by attending the fundraiser or by donating to a fund established by his elementary school – just mail a check to:

E.J. Marshall Elementary
c/o Rosalba Ledesma
12045 Telephone Ave.
Chino, CA 91710

You can reach the school at (909) 627-9741.

I am currently in Iraq but, when my sister told me about Jose’s situation, I only wish I could be there for the Fund Raiser. I understand that times are rough economically for everyone but, if you can make time to attend and contribute, then please do so. You would want the same unconditional generosity if this was your child. My Heart and Prayers go to Jose and his Family during this difficult time. God Bless Jose and stay stong Little Buddy.
