1 Dead, 1 Injured After Attack, Police Shooting In Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA (CBS) — A woman is in critical condition and another man is dead after a domestic dispute led to a police shooting in Santa Monica Wednesday.

Police say two officers shot a man four times at a Santa Monica apartment complex after he refused to stop stabbing his ex-girlfriend, authorities said.

The man reportedly climbed through the victim's window, straddled her and started attacking her with a pocket knife. The woman's current boyfriend, who was in the apartment on Ocean Park Drive with her, called 911.

She underwent surgery after suffering stab wounds to her face, upper body, lower torso and legs, according to CBS2's Kristine Lazar. She is expected to survive.

No other details were immediately released.
