State Assemblywoman Fiona Ma indicated there should be a change in alcohol sales policy at markets that have self check out lanes.

"If you want to buy alcohol at a grocery store, you need to see a sales clerk," Ma said.

Students at North Hollywood High School said the measure is a overreaction.

One student pointed out that when you scan the item, it registers it. He added that in some cases, you can't continue checkout until a clerk comes over.

"It has a sensor that does that," the student said. "So, that would be absurd."

Another student said the use of the self check scanner is a good way to get caught.
