RIVERSIDE (CBS) — A two-year-old Riverside girl struck by a van when she darted into the street after a dog succumbed to her injuries, authorities said Friday.
Crystal Castellanos died shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday at Loma Linda University Medical Center, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
The toddler ran in front of the full-size van around 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 5600 block of Norwood Avenue, according to Riverside police.
Officials said the child had been chasing a dog in and out of the street prior to the accident.
She was rushed to Parkview Hospital with major head trauma and later transferred to Loma Linda.
