MONTEBELLO (AP) — A California company is recalling 131,000 pounds of frozen pizza products found at Trader Joe’s stores because they contain an allergen not declared on the label.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the Trader Joe’s Pizza Al Pollo Asado contains wheat, but it’s not listed on the labels.

The pizzas were produced by Completely Fresh Foods of Montebello between Jan. 27 and March 27 and shipped to Trader Joe’s stores nationwide.

The 10-ounce packages bear the establishment number “EST. P-974″ inside the USDA mark of inspection.

A Trader Joe’s spokeswoman says all the affected products have been removed from its stores.

The USDA says the problem was discovered as part of a routine inspection.

Okay….I get it. The label should say it contains wheat, but just who in the heck would not know that pizza dough is made from wheat? If they don’t know, then maybe they deserve a Darwin Award?

Did you miss the part where they said the pizzas were made between Jan 27 and Mar 27? Clearly they last quite a while.

This makes the same sense as theTJ’s New Mexico Pinon Coffee that ONLY comes Ground, not Whole Bean, because the Coffee Grinders in the stores may become contaminated with Pine Nut allergins

Some people have Wheat allergies ! HELLOOOOO..But you people would have no idea because you dont have to deal with that! TJ could of made some people very sick!

The USDA are big on going after the good guys but they won’t tell you if a package contains GMO’s!

This is one of the many reasons I shop at Whole Foods Market. Other reasons…bigger stores, bigger parking lots and they are all open late. Yes, they are more expensive but like usual you get what you pay for in life.

one thing the picture above is not the pizza they are recalling.the picture is completely wrong. when i go to trader joes i trust that when it says gluten free it is but always as a precaution i read the ingredients. in this case wheat isnt even listed. its too bad people dont realize how serious wheat allergies are. gluten free is in some cases are necessity NOT a choice.
