Dodgers Sign Chad Billingsley Through 2014 Season

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Dodgers have signed pitcher Chad Billingsley to a three-year contract extension with a club option for a fourth year, keeping him in Los Angeles at least through the 2014 season.

General manager Ned Colletti made the announcement on Tuesday, two days before the Dodgers open the season at home against the San Francisco Giants.

The 26-year-old right-hander is 59-41 with a 3.55 ERA in 160 career games with the Dodgers. He's had a winning record in each of his five major league seasons.

Last year, Billingsley posted the longest scoreless innings streak of his career, blanking the opposition over 24 2-3 innings from July 21-Aug. 5.

He didn't allow a home over a span 92 innings, longest in the majors last season.
