RIVERSIDE (CBS) — The ex-con accused of gunning down a Riverside police officer with his own firearm was ordered Friday to stand trial on first-degree murder and other charges.
Earl Ellis Green, 45, is accused of beating and then killing 27-year-old Officer Ryan Patrick Bonaminio at the end of a foot pursuit last November 7.
Green could face the death penalty if convicted of the murder count, and jurors find true special circumstance allegations of killing a peace officer and committing a murder to avoid arrest.
