California Dries Out From Fierce Spring Storm

LOS ANGELES (AP) — California gets a day to dry out from a fierce spring storm before wet weather rolls in again.

Stuart Seto of the National Weather Service says Tuesday a low-pressure front from the Gulf of Alaska will bring chilly weather and a chance of rain Wednesday. Up to an inch could fall in Los Angeles through Thursday morning and the chance of rain will linger through the weekend.

However, Seto says there won't be a repeat of the weekend, when a storm dumped up to 10 inches of rain in some areas, caused a sewage spill that closed beaches in Long Beach and stranded dozens of people.

On Monday, Santa Barbara County authorities rescued a group of 12 youngsters and six adults who were stranded by swollen creeks on Figueroa Mountain.
