Officials ID Toddler Fatally Struck By Van In Sylmar

SYLMAR (CBS) — An 18-month-old boy who was killed by a van has been identified Randy Hernandez of Sylmar, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Hernandez was fatally struck Friday night at a family party in the 14200 block of W. Sayre St., Los Angeles police Sgt. Cameron Dunnet of the Valley Traffic Division said.

Alfonso Lopez Jr., 20, was backing a Honda Odyssey out of the driveway at 8:25 p.m. when he hit the boy, police said.

Hernandez was airlifted to Northridge Hospital, where he was declared dead about 9 p.m.
