DNA Links Fraud Suspect To Violent Home Invasion

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles investigators say DNA has linked a federal bank fraud defendant to a bloody home invasion in a gated Southern California community.

Detectives say sheriff's Asian Gang Team investigators used DNA to link 45-year-old Yong Suk Kim to the Aug. 10, 2009, Diamond Bar home invasion attack of a family.

The Torrance man was arrested in the bank fraud case in October.

Investigators say a 45-year old mother of three was awakened by a masked man and she noticed her 7-year-old son had his hands and mouth bound with duct tape. The woman grabbed scissors and stabbed the attacker.

The woman's 17-year old daughter and 13-year-old son were also overpowered by the intruder, who eventually ran away after the mother pushed him down a flight of stairs.
