Heading To NYC!
The present in New York is so powerful that the past is lost ~ John Jay Chapman
I love the whirlwind feel of New York. It's a visual feast, a magical vibrant place. I feel like I'm on a roller coaster the entire time I'm there. This is a girls' trip. I'm traveling with my mom and my girlfriend Nancy. We're meeting up with our girl Ashlina and we can't wait to paint the town red!
I'm staying at the Hotel Gansevoort in the Meatpacking District. I've never stayed in this neighborhood, but I've certainly visited all of the great restaurants in the area. My friend Maria Quiban tells me the hotel is fabulous, so I can't wait to explore!
The main reason for the trip? My brother Matt is performing at Carnegie Hall Thursday night with Alarm Will Sound. He was featured in Sunday's New York Times and The Wall Street Journal this week. Matt has loved The Beatles since he was a kid. The fact he's taking his interpretation to Zankel Hall brings tears to his sister's eyes. We're eating at Serafina before the show.
Dying to try The Lion! Nancy recommended it and we're squeezing in a rezzie, so we'll definitely let you know how it goes.
Topshop! I haven't been to one since my last trip to London! Is it like H&M these days? All I know is I have a Kate Moss Topshop dress I bought years ago and I still wear it.
I can't visit NY without a visit to my favorite restaurant. (Ok, Balthazar is a close second.) BG at Bergdorf Goodman overlooks Central Park and The Plaza Hotel. It's fantastic for lunch and it will require a visit. That and the shoe department.
