LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Discount carrier Spirit Airlines is introducing its new Los Angeles-Las Vegas route with rock-bottom fares of $9 each way.

The ultra low-cost carrier will start offering five daily non-stop flights from LAX to Las Vegas on May 5. The introductory $9 flights are available for travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between May 10 and June 15.

The price does not include taxes and other passenger charges.

Spirit’s fleet flies more than 150 daily flights to 44 destinations, mostly in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. Spirit is based in South Florida.

Plus fees, taxes, baggage charges (even for carry ons)… You’d be lucky to do a round trip for less than $100. Plus, you get to Vegas and either shell out tons of cash on taxi’s or on a rental car, or slum it and take a bus??? From LA?? No thanks, Spirit. I’ll drive… even with $5.00 a gallon for gas, it’s still a better deal.

You have to join a club for $60. Why bother with Vegas when you got Casinos out here in California? I don’t get people sometimes. it is a lot closer going to Morongo or Pechanga that wasting 4hrs in a car to Vegas.
