Pasadena Issues Outdoor Watering Ban

PASADENA (AP) — A treatment plant infrastructure upgrade has forced Pasadena officials to declare a temporary water emergency that bans outdoor watering.

Outdoor watering is banned during a 10-day shutdown period starting Mar. 18 and violators face fines ranging from $100 to $1,000.

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is planning a seismic retrofit of its F.E. Weymouth Treatment Plant from Mar. 18-27. Pasadena gets 60 percent of its water from the La Verne plant.

The Pasadena Star-News says the City Council on Monday declared a Level 4 water supply shortage emergency, its highest level.
