Big Rig Kills 2 Women On 60 Freeway In Industry

INDUSTRY (CBS/AP) — Two women have been killed after a trucker lost control of his big-rig on a Southern California freeway.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Preciado says the trucker lost control of his tractor-trailer rig on the eastbound 60 Freeway in the city of Industry at about 1:40 a.m. Thursday.

The big-rig crashed through the center divider and struck a Nissan Altima, killing two women. The trucker was hospitalized, but his injuries aren’t serious.

CBS2’s Kristine Lazar reported that the eastbound lanes of the freeway near the 605 interchange will remain closed until at least 6 a.m.

@Joe – No where in the article does it state that the truck driver is an illegal or that he was drunk. It’s people like you who make it a sad world we live in.

Speed and rain maybe the cause but again, the investigators need to do their job and release their findings.

This is my daily commute and I’m shocked and saddened to hear this happened. The 605s/60w transition is usually very easy to merge and have not had any major issues.

What surprises me is that the truck traversed 4-5 lanes across the west and jumped the center divider without giving the other side to react. I find this hard to believe unless the trucker was driving excessively fast.

I know better to say that all truckers are dangerous, but there are some that are near criminal with their death machines. It amazes how careless some of these truckers are, I can usually spot the ones that are very aggressive and keep a big distance from them.

Well my dear friend I dont agree with you in the last paragraph, and the reazon is because i am a trucker driver, and when you say that all truckers are dangerous you are forgeting that the mayority of accidentes happen because people that drive their vehicles believe that trucks have the ability to avoid any car, you are forgetting all the drivers out there that cut you off that probably because they texting forgot that their exit coming up and will do anything to get off. Yes their are truck drivers that should not be behind the wheel, but, a high percentage of car drivers out there dont have whats call “experience”

Its a shame that this trajic thing took place. It may not be the fault of the Truck Driver. It my have been caused by a stearing component malfunction. I’ve seen it happen.

How can he not stop after crossing 5 lanes and jumping the center divider, if his brakes didn’t fail on him, was he alsleep? Fyi…these women were sisters, coming home from work. Now leaving behind 6 children between them. May they rest in peace and be with God.
