BlogWorld Expo Leaves Las Vegas For LA
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The Las Vegas strip has paled in comparison to the bright lights of the newly revitalized downtown Los Angeles, at least for the organizers of the annual BlogWorld conference.
The BlogWorld and New Media Expo West conference, the world's largest gathering of social media professionals, is moving to Los Angeles, which beat out San Diego and San Francisco for the honor. BlogWorld is expected to draw thousands of blogger, social media experts and new media professionals from across the country to Los Angeles between Nov. 3-5.
BlogWorld CEO and co-founder Rick Calvert said he thought being in downtown would be a drawback but was "blown away" by the multi-billion L.A. Live complex and the new hotels, shopping centers and restaurants nearby.
BlogWorld has grown so much since its beginnings in 2006 that the event has split into East and West. BlogWorld East takes place in New York May 25-26.
