Woman, 18, Fatally Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver In South LA

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Los Angeles police are hunting for the driver of a beige or gray Ford pickup truck who they say fatally struck a woman in South Los Angeles.

The victim was hit on Figueroa Street near 66th Street about 10:35 p.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Saturday, the victim was identified as Sharniece Jeter, 18, of Victorville.

The truck (believed to be a Ford F-150 or F-250) was last seen heading north on Figueroa and the driver was described as a Hispanic male with a large beard, Sgt. Ronnie Cato of the South Traffic Division said. The driver may have turned east on Gage Avenue.

The truck reportedly has an extended cab and tinted windows.

Anyone with information on this hit-and-run accident or the whereabouts of the driver, was asked to call the LAPD's South Traffic Division at (213) 485-7336.
