CHP Probes OC Death Threats Against Brown
SACRAMENTO (AP) — The California Highway Patrol says it is investigating death threats made in two graffiti messages against Gov. Jerry Brown.
CHP spokeswoman Fran Clader said Friday the agency, which is responsible for the governor's safety, is taking the threat seriously.
The messages were spray-painted on walls in Santa Ana.
Cpl. Anthony Bertagna, spokesman for the Santa Ana Police Department, says one of the messages reads "we gonna kill Gov. Brown 2/14/11."
The other reads: "27 more days 4 Brown" and included a swastika. It's not clear if there's any significance to the date, other than it's Valentine's Day.
Bertagna says CHP is leading the investigation, but members of Orange County's multi-agency terrorism task force also are involved.
