Officials tracked suspects from LAX to NoHo

SANTA MONICA (AP) — Two Canadian men have been arrested in connection with more than 100 pounds of cocaine and some $2.4 million in cash seized from a warehouse in Valencia by local and federal law enforcement agencies.

Santa Monica police Sgt. Jay Trisler said Monday that one of the men, Vasile Babuschin, was a suspect in a previous major cocaine seizure.

Investigators with Santa Monica police and other agencies tracked Babuschin from Los Angeles International Airport to a North Hollywood home and the Valencia warehouse on Jan. 5.

The task force raided the warehouse on Jan. 12 and arrested Babuschin and alleged accomplice Sergei Souetov.

Trisler says both remain jailed by in Santa Monica Police Department jail.
