Ventura County Farm, Construction Theft Ring Cracked

VENTURA (AP) — Ventura County authorities say they've broken up a ring that stole construction and farm equipment in nearly 50 burglaries.

A county Sheriff's Department statement says one man was arrested Friday in Los Angeles. Two others already are in custody in connection with a Riverside County burglary and a fourth man is being sought.

Investigators believe the men burglarized storage containers at rural Ventura County farm and construction sites and stole welding machines, water pumps, drills and other tools. The items were fenced in Los Angeles.

A task force of detectives from Ventura, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Riverside counties began investigating the burglaries last July.
