Father, Grandparents Must Pay $150K For Search

ANAHEIM (AP) — The father and grandparents who pleaded guilty to their role in abducting two Southern California boys must reimburse police for the $150,000 cost of searching for the missing children.

The boys were abducted from their mother's Anaheim apartment complex on Oct. 7 and taken to Texas in what was described as a custody dispute.

Police Sgt. Rick Martinez said Wednesday that officers worked around the clock and traveled out of state to find the boys, who were found in Texas about three weeks after they went missing.

The Orange County Register says the cost of hunting for 2-year-old Justin and 4-year-old Jacob Quinones will be split between father Abraham Fernandez and grandparents Louis Mendoza Fernandez and Elizabeth Fernandez.

The father and grandparents have been sentenced to jail terms. Kidnapping counts were dismissed and they pleaded guilty Tuesday to two felony counts of depriving custody of a child or right to visitation.
