Jackets-Ducks Swap Minor-Leaguers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired center Trevor Smith from the Anaheim Ducks for defenseman Nate Guenin in a swap of minor leaguers.

Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson announced the deal on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Smith has 12 goals and 15 assists and 16 penalty minutes in 35 games this season with Syracuse of the American Hockey League. Smith appeared in seven games with the New York Islanders in 2008-09. He has been assigned to Springfield, Columbus' AHL affiliate.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Guenin, appeared in three games for Columbus this season, going scoreless with two penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 30 AHL games this season.
