Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (December 29)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — We've had a good soaker this morning, but it looks like we are going to see the rain end by lunchtime.

As the cold front pushes through, look for windy and cold weather through the rest of the day.

Wind warnings are in place for the valleys and the high desert. In fact, just a little while ago, there were reports of 73 mph gusts through Lake Palmdale.

Wind will be the story this afternoon along with some lower snow levels. By tonight, the snow level drops down to 2000 feet, which would be trouble for the Grapevine and the Cajon Pass.

The good news is it doesn't look like there is a whole lot of moisture, so it would come down as icy flurries. But that might just be enough for the CHP to run escorts, or even shut it down for a time.

We will be dry for the rest of the week, however, it is going to be very cold for this time of year.

Daytime highs will top out in the upper 50s to low 60s. By Saturday night and Sunday morning, we are expecting another round of light showers with the cold air. The snow levels could be low as well.

Hope you all are staying dry and enjoying the end of 2010.

- Josh
