LONG BEACH (CBS) — Health officials are asking the public to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after Wednesday’s rain.
High bacteria levels have been reported where the Los Angeles River empties into the ocean in Long Beach.
Sections of beach near storm drain outfalls, as well as river and creek mouths can be especially dangerous, Long Beach public health officer Dr. Helene Calvet said.
Employees with the Department of Health and Human Services were testing ocean water samples Wednesday morning.
