SANTA MONICA (CNS) — A Santa Monica resident fatally struck by a car while crossing Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica was identified Saturday.

Herceg Vlado, 66, was walking south across Wilshire in a crosswalk near 10th Street when he was struck by a westbound vehicle at about 9 p.m. Thursday, Santa Monica police Sgt. Jay Trisler said.

The 19-year-old driver of the car was not immediately cited in the accident.

Police were urging any witnesses to give call (310) 458-8954 or the department’s 24-hour line at (310) 458-8495.

    Sorry to hear this…horrible for the family especially on Christmas…but they really need to change this part of LA…letting people just step out and cross the street assuming that everyone is going to see you…and stop! It’s no wonder that there aren’t 100 a day killed in this town with this ridiculous traffic rule.
