Week Of Rain Breaks Rainfall Records

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — All that rain broke a few records in Southern California.

Maybe December 2010's 8.52 inches didn't make it the wettest month in downtown Los Angeles on record – that distinction belongs to the year of 1889 with 15.80 inches – but rainfall records were broken in more than a few cities.

Most of the records fell during Wednesday's storm. Long Beach got 1.31 inches, beating
the old record of 0.90 of an inch set in 1971. Lancaster got 0.94 inches, beating the old record of 0.45 inches set in 1982, according to the NWS. The rainfall record for December in downtown Los Angeles is 8.77 inches.
