Tamales Recalled Due To Undeclared Allergen

LAWNDALE (AP) — A Southern California company is recalling nearly 42,000 pounds of chicken tamales because they contain an undeclared allergen.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Friday that Diana's Mexican Food Products, Inc. of Lawndale was recalling the tamales after a routine inspection found they contained whey, a known allergen. The allergen was not declared on the label.

The tamales were produced between February 2010 and Dec. 2, 2010 and were distributed to restaurants in California.

The USDA says there have no reports of illness.
