FBI: ‘Video Girl’ Barbie Has Potential For Child Porn

Camera can record video, audio directly to computer

WASHINGTON (CBS) — U.S. law enforcement officials have issued an alert warning that a new Barbie doll can do more than just record video.

FBI Tells Law Enforcement That “Video Girl” Barbie Has Potential For Child Porn, KNX 1070’s Ed Mertz Reports

A memo from the Federal Bureau of Investigations warns that “Video Girl Barbie” could be used to make child pornography using a digital video camera installed in the middle of her chest.

The camera can record up to 30 minutes of video and audio that can be streamed directly to a computer, although officials say there is no evidence the doll can stream directly to the Internet.

Despite the muted warning, parents are already concerned.

Mattell said in a statement that its “products are designed with children and their best interests in mind. Many of Mattel’s employees are parents themselves and we understand the importance of child safety — it is our number one priority.”

The FBI says there have been no reported incidents involving the doll since the doll was first released in July.

I thought any camera can record child porn??? You have to have a barbie doll to record child porn?

There’s “no evidence” that the doll can stream video directly to the Internet, but it may be able to do so, after it uses its hypnotic powers to persuade your daughter to perform in front of it.

I think everyone who bought one of these should be required to register as a sex offender, and all the dolls should be retroactively equipped with a GPS monitoring device.

why does a childs toy need to record vid? it seems to me that this toy would in fact make it quite easy for someone to film a child naked and not even have the child know or anyone else around them know that the film was being made silly product concept

Do you distrust someone in your household? They don’t need a Barbie-cam to molest your child. Here are some more FBI warnings: your front-door may admit a child predator (better board it up tonight), and allowing your child to ride in a car dramatically increases the chance of them being involved in a car accident.

My advice is, don’t ever let your child undress, and then you can be assured that no one will ever see or film them them naked.

Based on the camera hole, at first I thought it was Tracheotomy Barbie. She says in a raspy voice, “got anything in a non-filter?”
