Temple City Woman Rescued After Being Kidnapped, Held At Gunpoint

COVINA (CBS) — Authorities say a 22-year-old Temple City woman was rescued after being kidnapped and held at gunpoint by a 38-year-old female gang member from El Monte.

An 18-year-old Temple City man reported his girlfriend was being held against her will by a woman armed with a handgun, at a nearby residence in the 16600 block of Tudor Street, according to a statement by sheriff's Lt. Margarito Robles.

The deputies went to the home and detained the occupants. During their investigation, a handgun was recovered.

The female victim told deputies she went to the home to see someone, and was confronted by the suspect, her former neighbor, Robles said.

She was held against her will for more than five hours. Robles says the suspect threatened the victim to try to get her to sign over ownership of her car.

Deputies arrested Lori M. Madrid, 38, of El Monte and identified her as an active gang member.

Madrid was booked Tuesday morning in San Dimas on suspicion of kidnapping, attempted robbery, possession of a loaded firearm, being an active gang member in possession of a loaded firearm, possession of an unregistered handgun, and a gang enhancement charge, Robles said.

Her bail early Friday was listed as $100,000. She had a court appearance Thursday morning, according to inmate records.
