Whole Foods Removes 7 Cheeses As Part Of Recall

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — Whole Foods Market Sunday joined a cheese recall, removing seven types of cheddar cheese because of the risk of Listeria and E. coli, but no illnesses have been reported.

The cheeses -- Sage Cheddar, Silver Mountain Cheddar, Chipotle Cheddar, Premium Block Cheddar, Premium White Chunk Cheddar, Chipotle Chunk Cheddar and White Black Wax Cheddar -- were sold at its stores in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Arizona, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The cheeses, packaged in clear plastic wrap and sold with a "Distributed by Whole Foods Market" sticker, are part of a recall announced by Bravo Farms.

Bravo had previously recalled its Dutch Style Gouda after nearly 40 people in five states reportedly became sick after eating the cheese sold at stores last month.

The company says federal and state food and agricultural officials detected E. coli and Listeria following a recent investigation at the plant.
