Medical Marijuana Shop Robbed But Not For Loot

SAN DIEGO (CBS) — Police say a medical marijuana shop was robbed in San Diego on Thanksgiving but the thieves took pot and not cash.

The hold-up was reported at the Care Alternative Group at 3930 Oregon Street, according to police.

The robbery took place just after 1 p.m.

Police say two men entered the store, pepper-sprayed a clerk and then ran off with an undisclosed amount of pot.

No cash was taken.

Police described the suspects as 20-something black men wearing sweatshirts and jeans.

Robbing a medical cannabis dispensary is exactly the same as robbing a pharmacy. Yet the article refers to the establishment as a shop and the medicine as “pot”. Is this low-brow journalism or simply right-wing nut spin?

Let’s call a spade a spade, these are pot shops. Granted, there are some people who benefit from medical marijuana. But the people I know who go to these so called “pharmacies” are going to get high for recreational purposes only! They are 40 year old stoners.

I hope your spade comment references playing cards and not stereotypes of these pharmacy robbers. And, yes, they probably wanted the drugs for themselves and others to get high (or for mere resale value) just as any drug found in any pharmacy. But they were 20 year old “stoners” so you must not have thoroughly educated yourself on this article.

I hope they get shot and then I hope I stumble upon the weed.

Thank GOD they only used pepper spray!!!

Medical Marijuana is medicine for many people, many “stoners” are hooked becuase the realize the bennifits of this God made plant.

Unfortunaltely, drug stores are frequently robbed. Medicinal Cannabis is highly effective in a wide variety of medical conditions, ranging from cancer to glaucoma to chronic pain, to PTSD.. It is amazing that in our day and age the Feds and their DEA cling to outdated “dogmas” and suppress further research into the remarkable medicinal properties of the Cannabis plant. I cannot believe that this Inquisition-style repression with regards to science and scientific research is even possible in contemporary America, of all places. But the fact remains very clear: Cannabis is not physically addictive and the so-called “gateway drug” theory is nonsense. I was very impressed with Arizona voters this past election because despite all the scare-tactics, all the deceptions, all the distortions, the voters of Arizona, many being rather Conservative, still voted for their own interests, for the medicinal Cannabis, and against the “politicos” “dogma”. Cannabis is Medicine, people, it has been medicine for thousands of years, and it will still be medicine long after the current prohibitionist crowd pass into oblivion! Legalize Medicinal Cannabis in all 50 States ASAP!

Re: @ Paul. As a 40 something Medical Marijuna Patient, I resent the implication that I am “just a stoner”! I do use CANNABIS (it’s REAL name) for a variety of health reasons. Mainly for my Mental Health issues (PTSD) and it has been a tremendous help to me personally. I recommend it highly (pardon the pun). But just like eveything, It’s not for everyone. I do think the vast # of patients truly use it for it’s medical properties. Anyone can abuse anything. How do think I got PTSD? From an Alcoholic/Abusive Relative! I’ll be damned if I’ll treat my kids that way with such “dangerous DRUGS” LIKE ALCOHOL! Cannabis is much safer…and saner! Get a clue!! The 60’s are over!

It is a medical marijuana dispensary so quotes are unnecessary “medicine”.

sad, many dispensaries are experience this worldwide.

I see many are using security guards, this is not good as their lives are in jeopardy.

bulletproof glass booths, video surveillance, mini turnstile type exchange booths, buzz-in gates, operation hours should be half-days, with no night activity, no security guards (for obvious reasons)
